History of the company/bank and archive description for Energie-Versorgung Schwaben AG |
|
| History of the company/bank: |
The "Energie-Versorgung Schwaben AG" was founded on April 1st 1939 by the merger of eight community- and administration unions with the "Württembergische Landes-Elektrizitäts-AG". In 1942, the co-operative "Elektrische Kraftübertragung, Herrenberg eGmbH" also became a part of this company. By the creation of this state supply company for Württemberg and Hohenzollern the concentration process concerning the electrification of the rural areas of Württemberg practically came to an end. The shares were held mainly by the supplied communities, cities and counties, which had created community- and administration unions, and by the state of Württemberg. In 1996/97, the former "Energie-Versorgung Schwaben AG" was renamed to "EVS Holding AG". The General Meeting on August 20th 1997 decided that retroactive to January 1st 1997 the company should be merged with "Badenwerk Holding AG" to "Energie Baden-Württemberg AG". Before, the operative business had been transferred to the newly founded "EVS Energieversorgung AG", which today again is named "Energie-Versorgung Schwaben AG". At the present time, the "Energie-Versorgung Schwaben AG" is the supplier for a region which extends from Bodensee to Hohenlohe and from the Black Forrest to the river Iller. In 1940, approximately 1,700 employees produced around 300 million kWh of electricity. In 1997, in the EVS head office, the six existing company offices, the EVS power stations and more subsidiary companies around 4,500 people are employed. In 1996, EVS delivered approximately 20,900 million kWh of electricity to its clients.
