Freudenberg & Co. is the holding for all the companies of the worldwide operating Freudenberg Group. Its legal status is that of a limited partnership, with its shares completely in possession of the Freudenberg family. Its product mix consists of packing- and vibration-technique, fleece materials, caoutchouc floor coverings, calfskin, shoes, household products and electromechanical components. The company was founded in the year 1849 as a tannery under the name "Heintze & Freudenberg", 1874 renamed "Carl Freudenberg" and in 1921 was put into the newly founded "Freudenberg & Co." Holding. Since 1929 it diversified its product mix, in order to be able to cope with the economic crisis. In 1995 the company Carl Freudenberg was split into autonomous limited partnerships. In 1996 the Freudenberg Group reached a turnover of over 5 Billion DM and had 26,000 employees. |
| Archive description | The company archive was founded in the year 1962, to hold the valuable stock of the registry and to be able to document the complete history of the company. The materials of the archive are arranged by a three-step decimal system and fully opened up by an electronic catalogue / computer database (Microsoft - Access). Present materials:
