History of the
company/bank:
In 1931 foundation of "Dr. Ing. h. c. Porsche AG" as an independent and neutral Engineering Office by Ferdinand Porsche (September 3rd 1875 - January 30th 1951); April 25th 1931 registration of the company in the commercial register of the city of Stuttgart; outstanding constructions in the 1930s: Auto - Union racing-car (Porsche - Typ 22) and Volkswagen (Porsche - Typ 60); 1938 transformation to a limited partnership; 1940 Ferdinand (Ferry) Porsche (born September 19th 1909) becomes vice-president of the company; 1944 displacement of the company from Stuttgart - Zuffenhausen to Gmünd / Kärnten (Austria); 1948 under the direction of Ferdinand (Ferry) Porsche construction and production of the first Porsche automobile type 356 in Gmünd / Kärnten, beginning of the Porsches activities in car - racing; 1950 return of the company to Stuttgart - Zuffenhausen; 1963 presentation of the Porsche 911; 1969 presentation of the VW - Porsche 914; 1971 opening of the Research & Development Centre in Weissach; 1972 transformation into a joint - stock company; 1975 presentation of the Porsche 924; 1977 presentation of the Porsche 928; 1981 introduction of the Porsche 944; up to March 1990 Ferdinand (Ferry) Porsche is head of the supervisory board of the joint - stock company, his successor in this position is his eldest son , Ferdinand Alexander Porsche; 1991 introduction of the Porsche 968; from October 1st 1992 Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking is speaker of the Board; from March 5th 1993 Prof. Dr. Helmut Sihler is head of the supervisory board; from August 1st 1993 Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking is head of the executive committee; 1996 introduction of the Boxster; in the financial year of 1996 / 97 the turnover of the company amounts to 2,81 billion DM; 1997 introduction of the new 911; 1997 : approximately 7,900 employees.
