History of the
company/bank:
The Bank was founded in 1927 as a subsidiary of the National Bank of Greece and today is by far the largest financial institution in the area of housing loans (41% of the market).
Apart from loans to the Housing Sector, the Bank extends credit to the Servicesīs Sector (Particularly long-term credit and working capital to tourism), it grants consumer credit through credit cards and personal consumer loans, it takes deposits of all kinds and offers a large scale of other consumer and investment products to its customers.

  • Ktimatiki Insurance Agents - Consultants S. A. ; Direct participation: 95 %
  • Ktimatiki Capital S. A. ; Direct participation: 50%
  • Ktimatiki Constructions - EKTENEPOL S. A. ; Direct participation: 100%
  • Hellenic Hotel Management S. A. ; Direct participation: /
  • Ktimatiki Mutual Fund Management Company S. A. ; Direct participation: 50%
  • Ktimatiki Training and Conference Center S. A. ; Direct participation: 98%
In 1997, there was a merger of the National Housing Bank, also a subsidiary of the National Bank of Greece, with the National Mortgage Bank of Greece. There will be no change in the name of the Bank after the absorption of the National Housing Bank.

The current field of activities of the Bank is practically the same as in the past with the notable exception that it is now entitled to extend consumer and working capital credit and also to enter into foreign exchange transactions excluding internal and external trade financing.

Archive description The historical records of the Bank include:
  • (a) Resolutions and acts of the Board of Directors
  • (b) Annual Reports of the Governor and Accounts presented to the General Assembly of the Shareholders
  • (c) Resolutions of Extraordinary General Assemblies of the Shareholders
The size of the records has not been measured as yet. There is no index of records nor have records of other banks or companies been deposited in the archives of this Bank or vice versa.

No loss of records has ever occured and no special collections of historical records have been maintained so far.
