History of the
company/bank:		 ABN AMRO Bank origins date back to 29 March 1824 when the Nederlandsche Handel - Maatschappij, N. V. in The Hague was established by King William I. Algemene Bank Nederland, N. V. (ABN Bank) was established October 3, 1964 being a merger of the Nederlandsche Handel - Maatschappij and the Twentsche Bank N. V. , Amsterdam (established 24 June 1861).
Amsterdam - Rotterdam Bank, N. V. (AMRO Bank) was established 27 July 1964, being a merger of Amsterdamsche Bank N. V. (established 5 December 1871) and Rotterdamsche Bank N. V. (established 16 May 1863).
ABN Bank and AMRO Bank announced a merger feasibility study in late March 1990.The study soon yielded positive results and 30 May 1990 saw the establishment of ABN AMRO Holding N. V. This holding company controlled the two operating banks. The legal merger took place on 22 September 1991. The commercial presentation of ABN AMRO Bank with the new corporate identity was launched on 23 September 1991.
Former and current activities: foreign exchange, cross - border and local banking transactions, ranging from traditional commercial lending and trade finance to a full range of treasuries activities, corporate finance products, project finance, syndications and private banking.
Today ABN AMRO Bank is a major player in the world banking area; it distinguishes itself through its large international network, which is virtually unmatched by any other bank.
